It began in a little city called Austin, Texas. Not my birth home, that would be St. Louis, Mo. Austin however, has been home for me for the past 40 years. In 1984 I had the opportunity to work a summer job where I had access to a Macintosh computer. On the computer I was introduced to digital graphics, though very basic and simple at that time. Can anyone remember dot matrix printers?
It was clear as day after a refreshing rain, the call to minister the gospelof peace. I had finished pledging Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated, I was enjoying my time in school (perhaps too much) and it there it was, the call. I remember calling my dad, who is a pastor and telling him that I was to minister the gospel.
After many years traversing through the campuses of University of Texas, Austin Community College, Texas State (Formerly Southwest Texas State), and Southern University at Baton Rouge, a life changing decision led me to a new place and I finally graduated from the "the Yard" Prairie View A&M University.
Worked five years for Austin's utility company, Austin Energy, where I redrew transmission line paper blueprints in AutoCad. It also here that I was introduced to html and webdesign.
Left Austin Energy to teach full time at a private school. It was here I was able to invest in the minds of young people and share with them my experiences, skills and practices while encouraging them to excel in life and to be character centered leaders of high moral character commited to excellence building family and community.
From the beginning I wanted Say the Word to be more than a business but a way of living. Everything that I had done contributed to making Say the Word Designs a reality and as of February 28, 2023 it became official. After all if you are gonna say something then Say the Word.
